The Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines for
Buildings and Facilities (ADAAG) contains specific requirements for
vertical changes in height (i.e. a change in floor covering material.)
This requirement applies to vertical changes greater than 1/4" such as
3/4" hardwood flooring. The expansive nature of this reducing
system allows for an almost limitless transition height and has other
applications besides floor covering.
